Textures and Techniques For Porcelain and Ceramics.

This is the first in a series of three publications through Kangaroo Press. It is a guide for those porcelain and ceramic artists who, confronted with the multitude of products and techniques available today for texturing their work and the different techniques of using them, are not altogether certain of how to make the best use of them.

Instructions on how to use textures, raised pastes and gold underlay, enamels, petit point paste, acid look effect paste, modern texturing pastes and cloisonné enamelling, are followed by eleven detailed projects, heavily illustrated. There are no hard and fast rules, however - most of the designs can be used with texture effects other than those suggested. This book is no longer for sale, but you might just find it in your local library.

Creative Effects for Porcelain and Ceramics.

The second in the series, this book contains a host of new ideas to help porcelain and ceramic artists and potters to expand their over-glaze work.

Introductory chapters on techniques are followed by eight heavily illustrated lessons, which take the reader step by step through the creative process to the finished pieces. This book is no longer for sale, but you might just find it in your local library.

Decorative Options for Porcelain, Ceramics and Pottery.

The third and final in the series, this book has been written, not only for porcelain painters but more specifically for the ceramist and potter who wishes to work with overglaze products and techniques.

In years past, porcelain painters worked only on finely glazed white porcelain, but today they are conquering a wealth of different types of surfaces. Additionally, an increasing interest in the techniques of overglaze and low-fire decoration among both potters and soft-glaze ceramists has allowed a merging of all areas in the techniques that were once thought of purely as porcelain painting. The rich earthy colours of terracotta pottery contrast superbly with raised gold effects and applications of overglaze colours; the warm glow of soft-glazed ceramics and the ability to work on much larger pieces are also exciting for the porcelain painter.

Included here are step-by-step instructions for seven projects, offering the reader exciting potions for overglaze decorations on different types of ware. This book is currently available from the author. Recommended retail price is $32.95 Aus. (incl. GST) + postage.
